Probiotics are "friendly" bacteria that help out restore the balance contained by the intestinal tract, there by aiding middle-of-the-road digestion, supporting the immune system and promoting overall health. Yogurt, kefir and other fermented products are rich contained by these.
Prebiotics help to colonize the friendly germs, found in artichokes, oats, unrefined barley. A Precursor to Life.
Probiotic is non-pathogenic bacterium feed to animals, including birds, as a way to prevent colonization by pathogenic germs
Prebiotic refers to the state of matter until that time life existed, but be conducive to the formation of life (the basis of life)
Pro = in favor of.
Biotic = existence.
In favor of life.
(such as acidophilus, or as is found within yogurt or kefir).
Antibiotic = against life.
(such as penicillin or Erythromycin).
Probiotics - the microbes that colonise your digestive tract, necessary for in shape bowel function, and also for the provision of some vitamins eg vitamin K.
Prebiotics - the food that supports the growth and colonisation of healthy germs, such as good ability fibre eg pectin, oat bran, psyllium husks, slippery elm yelp.
Often probiotics and prebiotics are packaged together so that the microbes have the food they entail to encourage colonisationin the bowel.
